Language Village Camp

Purpose

The primary goal of the IHU Language Village is for students to achieve communicative competence, enabling them to use the target language fluently and accurately in daily life, rather than just learning it theoretically.

Learning at the Language Village is based on the principle of continuous language use. Therefore, students speak only the target language from the moment they enter the camp; the use of any other language is restricted during classes, social activities, and all stages of daily life. This rule is formally accepted through a participation agreement signed prior to the program.

The academic purposes of the program include:

  • Understanding academic and daily texts in the target language.

  • Expressing thoughts in a structured manner, both orally and in writing.

  • Using basic and intermediate grammar structures accurately.

  • Developing an academic vocabulary.

  • Using language appropriate to different communicative contexts.

In line with these purposes, the Language Village provides a holistic language acquisition environment that simultaneously develops communicative fluency and academic accuracy.
