Dear Participants,
On behalf of the administrators, instructors, and mentors of the Ibn Haldun University Language Village, I would like to extend a warm welcome to you. This year, our camp will take place in our Yalova Language Village, where you will have the opportunity to learn a language in a nature-integrated environment through interaction with diverse cultures. By joining the Language Village family—who are highly motivated to learn languages— you will take an important step in developing yourself and becoming a global citizen.
One of the most unique features of this program is the international environment, which allows participants to actively use the language they are learning throughout the day. IHU Language Village is an immersive language education program designed for participants to learn through experience, based on a 24-hour English-only policy. This is implemented through the Language Pledge, which participants sign at the beginning of the program. This pledge is the foundation of our educational philosophy and shapes the entire program.
The daily courses are designed to include the four core language skills: reading, listening, writing, and speaking. Additionally, planned workshops, sports activities, excursions, and cultural events offer students the opportunity to meaningfully use English throughout the day and live the language. The goal is to replicate the immersive experience of being in an English- speaking country, without actually traveling abroad.
Foreword Beyond language learning, participants will develop friendships, explore new skill areas through workshops, discover their talents, enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle through sports, and enrich their personal growth through cultural trips. As a result, students will complete a productive two-week program. Thanks to our international team of expert instructors, students will not only learn English but also gain insights into the cultural and social aspects surrounding the language.
Moreover, each student will have an international mentor assigned to them, who will be available at all times to provide support and guidance. With the help of mentors, students are able to use English meaningfully in all areas of life, turning language learning into a social experience.
Our School of Foreign Languages, the coordinator of IHU Language Village, holds international certification. It has been internationally accredited by the “Edexcel-Pearson Assured” institution, which audits quality and works with over 1,000 institutions across 100 countries and 97% of UK universities.
This handbook contains important information to help you prepare for a fun and successful summer. As with every program, our rules and expectations are designed to help you get the most out of your experience.
Ibn Haldun University Language Village is the result of years of accumulated experience, a unique and outcome- oriented vision of language education in Türkiye, and the determination and effort to bring that vision to life.
